Influenced by a 1920s police photo of a known Sydney criminal. Special glass plate photographs were taken to capture how certain known criminals dressed and presented themselves. These photos were displayed in the police station on a wall known as the "Rogues Gallery". This particular image was inscribed special photograph 1133.
